World Book Day

March 1, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

On Thursday 1st March, we will be celebrating World Book Day.

Traditionally, the children have always come dressed in a full outfit of their favourite character but instead of dressing up fully this year, we would love for the children to bring in only one item that is associated with their favourite book character. This item could be an object their character owns or replace an item of school uniform e.g. red sparkly shoes instead of school shoes to represent Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz or a broken pair of glasses for Harry Potter etc.  Each class will then hold their own ‘Guess Who’ game in the morning whereby they have to work out who each other is through the item and a series of clues. The less obvious the item, the better!

In addition to this, we will be holding an inter-house ‘literature pub quiz’ (without the beer!) in the morning where the 3 houses will compete against each other in a series of rounds to test their ‘booky’ knowledge and a chance for the winning house to win a book worm themed prize!

Instead of raising money through dressing up, we would love to hold a literature themed cake sale on this day during morning and afternoon break whereby everyone is welcome to create and donate their own book themed cakey goods. All the money raised will be donated to our school charity.

We look forward to seeing what exciting characters and baked goodies our children can come up with!
