Physical Education (PE)
Our aim at Hopelands Preparatory School is to achieve the highest possible standard in a range of sporting activities for each individual child regardless of ability. We teach individuals who are ‘happy to take part’ through to those talented athletes who participate at county level. Our objective is to improve a child’s mobility, flexibility, agility and endurance in a fun environment. The children have two hours of physical education (PE) tuition per week, excluding their swimming and dance lessons.
In Key Stage 1, PE is taught by the class teacher and our PE specialist. Children are taught how to follow rules and how to move and play safely. They learn how to work on their own and with others. They work together in teams, competing against others.
In Key Stage 2, there is an integrated system with numerous sports (listed below), enabling the children a greater cross-section of skills and better foundation work necessary for all top sports people.
Each individual finds their true potential through enjoyment and fun. This results in attainment, success and achievement without feeling awkward, inhibited, inadequate or inferior.
Each child has the advantage of being taught by a highly qualified sports specialist whose knowledge and understanding transfers to the children. As a result the children gain self-esteem, confidence, self-discipline and focus, enhancing all areas of teaching and life experiences.
