Music
“Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act.”
At Hopelands we aim to provide all pupils with a rich musical experience through performing, composing, listening and appraising. The children explore sounds through listening skills, rhythmic work, creative experiences and singing. They learn to understand and identify the musical elements of pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and structure through practical experiences.
Music plays a central role in whole-school celebrations, especially Christmas and end of term concerts when the children get the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. They perform using their own voices and a range of tuned and un-tuned instruments.
Further learning opportunities are provided through extra-curricular activities which offer tuition in recorder and flute.
