Homework club is also offered after school every evening and is supervised by a teacher.
PGL
Every year the school organises a 4 day trip for years 5 and 6 to the PGL centre in Ross-on-Wye. The children take part in activities such as; Climbing, Wrafting, Abseiling, Jacobs Ladder, Orienteering, Trapeze, Challenge Course, Canoeing, Kayaking, Zip Wire and Mountain Boarding
Although the weather has not been kind for the past two years, the children are still able to really enjoy themselves. We think it provides the children with a fantastic opportunity to bond one last time, before we say goodbye to the year 6's in July. The 2009 trip has been orgainised for Friday 5 June 2009 to Monday 8 June 2009.
Swimming
All the children from Years 1 to 6 receive 24 one hour swimming lessons per year at Dursley Pool. The children are divided into four groups depending on ability and each group is taught by a fully qualified swimming instructor.
The children work towards their Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Water Skills Awards and enjoy the Swimming Gala at the end of each academic year.
By the time the children leave Hopelands they are proficient swimmers, many also having completed a life-saving course.
