Art and Craft
In KS1 the children are taught to explore and develop ideas by recording what they see and imagine. They are encouraged to ask and answer questions; use different materials, tolls and techniques. The children especially enjoy finding out about the differences and similarities present in different times and cultures, e.g. Native Americans and Aborigines.
Pupils in KS2 are encouraged to develop and extend skills and processes learnt from KS1 through to KS2. A series of projects will allow them to develop observational skills, imaginative powers and the use and control of media in twoand three-dimensional work. Many practical projects during the year also involve art history and critical studies developing pupils’ understanding of the work of individual artists, designers and craftspeople. Sketchbooks, linked to the projects, will be kept during the year.
